I am really glad to know that hundreds of other people out there do cookie exchanges. I am going on my third annual cookie exchange which I usually schedule the second Sunday in December. My main guest list consist of my three sisters and my two very special goddaughters serve as my hostesses. They really enjoy it and I hope to pass this along to them so I do keep a separate memory album for each of them. Christmas "Is the Most wonderful time of the year" in my book so I go all out with my Cookie Bake. Yes I host a special luncheon and a dessert. Everyone loves the idea of taking home all kinds of different homemade cookies to share with there family. My theme this year will be the twelve days of christmas which my true love (My Husband ) is helping me plan as well as my two sons 23yr.old & 16yr old which makes this time very special because my whole family is involved. Yet on this day there are pretty scares since all these women will be showing up at our home.I am really glad to be able to access to your web page and I hope to send pictures soon.Yes I do Have a prize for the most unique cookie.Leticia

I saw last years show on HGTV and it was great. You gave us some good ideas for this year. I'm working on getting a family exchange going, but it seems to be a lot of work. Everyone is so busy and say they don't have the time. So this year it will be just my sister and me, but there still is at least 5 months to go. I hope you have another show this year it was very enjoyable. Thanks

Hosted my "1st Annual Cookie Exchange" and it was a total success. I had mailed out 40 invitations, but since it was the Sat. before Christmas, alot of ladies were having their family Christmas. I had 19 attend. WHAT A FUN MORNING!!!! I had printed out your invitation with just a few changes. The first girl came and was dressed like an elf.....then here came the 2nd and she was in a full costume of Santa. We laughed and laughed. (Good thing I had picked up 2 gifts) I have a cute picture of all of us and our table. I had a light brunch, we walked around the table and exchanged out cookies......some of them were gorgous and really good. A few were not to die for, but all in all, a fun-filled morning. I have one question though, I'd love to make a recipe booklet of all this years recipes to hand out to the ladies and maybe use the group picture as the cover, but I can't figure out how to do it. Would you put them on recipe cards, or sheets of paper.......ANY SUGGESTIONS? Looking forward to hosting another exchange in 2001!!!!

My friends and I have been gathering for an annual cookie party for over 20 years. In our third year, one of our member's mother (who wrote a society column for the local newspaper) called us "young matrons." Now, we are grandmas, widows and cancer and heart attack survivors. We drink a toast to our womanhood and our cookie challenges.

I hosted my first cookie exchange this year. I prepared a nice lunch along with wine for the festivity. There were 8 ladies and each lady brought a dozen cookies for each person. We, also, told a story as to the origination of the cookie and why we chose that particular cookie and if there were any catastrophe's or fun happenings on cookie baking day. Then after our story each one of us passed out our cookies. Everyone was so excited when the cookies started piling up in front of them. We had our baking done for the holiday. P.S. All of us has no children. One of the ladies has already volunteered to host next year's cookie exchange. I did see Sara Moulton's cookie exchange show. Thank you for telling us about your web site. I may be able to improve our cookie exchange for next year. Happy Holidays

Robin, I recently held my annual cookie exchange this week and enjoy doing so each year. I also saw the program on the Food Channel last night and made a point of tuning in. Yours looks so fun I wish I could come to that one, too! My guestlist consisted of 9 girls this year. I try to shoot for at least 10-12. I find it scares people to have to bake "that many dozens"! It's difficult to get them to bake at all. But I keep holding it because I enjoy the time of year and catching up on all the latest. Good Luck with your parties and I will see if I can learn something new to add next year! Happy Holidays! Diane

caught you on Sara's cookie exchange this year and was determined to find you on the web. thank you for being there. was anxious to find the andes mint recipe. for close to 20 years I have made cookies using various doughs, including a chocolate chip dough, a sour cream sugar cookie dough(it spread too much for me) and finally a cream cheese cookie dough (I like that best of all) just roll dough out, cut into strips a little more than twice as wide as the mint, fold over, and cut between the mints. I then take a forrk and crimp all 4 edges (kinda like a ravioli) and bake. I then melt some chocolate and drizzle over the cookies with a fork. sometimes I have glazed them with a confectioner's sugar glaze instead. I've never thought about using some of the cherry mint shavings on top but I bet that would be great. I enjoyed your website. thank you very much for having it there for us. Shirley

Wow! What a GREAT idea! I just watched your cookie swap on the Food channel and I'm definitely going to do this next year with some of my friends and neighbors! I see that your site suggests that 6 dozen cookies be brought by each guest. Is this so that your family can try them too? That sounds like a LOT of cookies! Thanks again and I'll share your site with those that I invite next year. Too bad I didn't see this earlier in the year so that I could've had it this Christmas season!!!! P.S. Hi Robin, I live in Gonzales, Louisiana. It is about 30 minutes from our state capitol Baton Rouge or about an hour away from New Orleans. I watched your TV Holiday Cookie Exchange Show last night. I thought it was excellent. I loved the idea of getting together with old and new friends and just taking a break from our hectic lives around Christmas time. I also like giving cookies instead of gifts that you buy. Homemade cookies show that you took time to make something special for someone that is from the heart. I am not a baker nor do I cook very often. But I am going to bake some cookies for my family get together this Christmas. I have printed out all the cookie recipes that you have on your web site. I do enjoy baking for others. Especially with your great cookie ideas. That way year after year I can make something for my loved ones to enjoy. In fact next year I am thinking about having a cookie exchange with my friends, family and my place of work. I just wanted you to know that I enjoyed the special and that your message of getting together with special people around the Holidays really brings out the true meaning of Christmas. Merry Christmas!! Sincerely, Kristi Cadarette

Hi Robin - I am having my first cookie exchange at my house this year. I have five daughters and one son. I have one special day before Christmas when my whole family (kids and grandkids, daughter-in-law and sons-in-laws) get together which will be the 22nd of this month. We make a day of it and as I have 13 grandchildren it sure does make for a very fun day. We play lots of silly games and eat, eat, and eat some more. Each year we try to have a needy family over with us and that also makes each of us be a little more thankful. So I thought this year since we all bake that we could do the cookie exchange on that day. I just happened to see if I could find anything online about it and there you were. This sounds like such fun. I have even bought each of us a pretty plastic platter in the shape of a red Christmas tree and scotch taped a paper doilie onto it for each of us to load up our cookies. I also asked each of them to bring a copy of the recipe they make and bring enough copies for each of us, date it and sign it. I bought little cheap photo album booklets for them to put the recipes in for each of them and then next year we can add to the recipes. Is there anything else you can suggest for a successful exchange? Have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year. A brand new cookie exchanger - looking forward to hearing from you. Terry DiLeo
