Cool Site! Brought back alot of memories. I'm orginally from So. CA and I used to hang out at the Beach w/all the Surfer Boys and Party. I would go to concerts and get back stage. My Favorite band was Led Zepplin, I was in love with Robert Plant. I remember Charlie Angels and Brady Bunch. My parents had a station wagon. I remember parting and making drinks in the back seat while we were driving. That was pretty crazy but for some reason we got away with it. I'm glad we lived through it. Anyway, got to go thanks I enjoyed the site.

Robin, Did you say you graduated from Grant H.S. in Van Nuys in 1977? If so, so did I. What a time to be young!

Talking about Love's Baby Soft, do you remember the tv commercial with the blond hotty wearing a white teddy and holding a lollipop? She was my first crush. I'd love to have a photo of her. I'm writing a fictional piece set in Brooklyn during 1979. Looks like, from all this e-mail, I might have a market.

I was an avid fan of "ZOOM" when I was a kid and now even have a pretty good sized collection of memorabilia from the show. Look through your dresser drawers and attics, folks. I'm in the market for old ZOOMcards from the show!

The song 'Old Betsy Goes Boing, Boing, Boing' by The Hummers from 1973. 'Gator Road' by the Stampeders. It was the flip side of Sweet City Woman but they still used to play it sometimes. I think 'Swamp Witch' by Jim Stafford is one of the best songs of that decade, it's almost completely been forgotten about, but they played it a lot in 1973. Remember those games g'nip g'nop, and Battling Tops from '73 or '74?

in the american pie explanation page it said that he wrote "bye bye miss american pie" because he used to date a contestant in the miss america pagent. why he really wrote it was because the plane that buddy holly, richy valens, and big bopper died on was called american pie.

I remember the 70's also. Cruising down main street on a Friday and Saturday Night, earth shoes, clapping my hands and stomping my feet to "WE WILL, WE WILL ROCK YOU" by Queen, at every football game, fuzzy feet, my posters on my bedroom wall of David Cassidy, Shaun Cassidy, and John Travolta, movies like Star Wars, Saturday Night Fever, and Jaws. Tv shows such as Wonder Woman, police Woman, Saturday Night Live, Welcome Back Kotter (Horshack waving his hand frantically and saying "OOOH, OOOH, OOOH, I KNOW THE ANSWER, MISTER KOTTERRRR!), All In The Family, The Jeffersons, Mork and Mindy, The Facts Of Life, Diff'rent Strokes, and of course, M.A.S.H! I graduated from high school in 1980 so I got to wear all the cool clothes like disco dresses, hip huggers, halter tops, bikini tops with jeans, gauchos, leather purses, earth shoes, tee shirts, and tennis shoes. I also remember some of the quotes but this one was my favorite "UP YOUR NOSE, WIT A RUBBER HOSE!!" from Welcome Back, Kotter. Also THINGS GO BETTER WITH COKE. One commercial that says "I'D LIKE TO TEACH THE WORLD TO SING IN PERFECT HARMONY. I'D LIKE TO BUY THE WORLD A COKE AND KEEP IT COMPANY. THAT'S THE REAL THING. COKE!!"

Wow - talk about flash backs! I had a wonderful time viewing your 60's and 70's page. I graduated high school in 1972 so I got the best of both worlds. It's a shame kids now can't have the same innocence we had as kids. Thanks for letting me be young again for just a few minutes :)
Pat

Remember Dairy queen, Farrell's ice cream parlors, and Dunckin donut's? We don't have any of those any more. The seventies had all of them. One could get a banana split for 50 cents and an ice cream cone for 20 cents. Also remember cactus cooler and pop rocks? TV shows like Chips, BJ and the Bear, Fantasy Island, Love Boat (original), etc. all of this brings back memories.
Lee Miles

You and all the others must just laugh at yourselves when you look back, but oh! how I wish I could have done it myself! I can only imagine how rad it was. I, myself, am growing up in the nineties. I guess i`ll still be sixteen when 2000 hits. I`ve succeeded in making it as close as possible to your era, but it`s not the same. Peace!
Robyn

Hi Rob, what a great site! I loved it. But unfortunately, I couldn't exactly find what I was looking for. I'm doing a fictional project that I would like to take place in that era, and it MUST contain something about the Volkswagen Bug. Since I wasn't exactly around for that era (unfortunately) I can't verify that it would DEFINITELY work if I placed, say a Drive In Movie theatre showing Saturday Night Fever in a VW Bug. Can you give me the go ahead? Thanx so much!
Kathy

Robin sez: You have my permission to state that a beetle might have been at the Drive In in 1978.   It is now bonafide and certified. Go in peace. :)

Great job! Robin, i"m one of your unknown peers from that GREAT time, [class of 77] i was in the longhair, freak, stoners, heads[pick one or all] crowd. graduated by the skin of my teeth[but i finished!] i am very grateful for growing up in the 60s+70s, it was better, guns werent a requirement yet. part of me is still there [keeps you young you know] Have still had my hair mostly longer over the years, i"ve been at Boeing in seattle 13 years now a respectable member of society[and they said we"d never amount to nuthin!] My 8 year old son likes the 70s Show, he said the other day "i wish i could go back in time with you and see what it was like", i thought that was pretty cool. i thought hell i"d like to go back now and then too, had mostly pretty good times those days. i even went to my 10+20 reunions, was disappointed a lot of folks i ran with didn't make it, but my crowd was never to big on tradition. my 1st car was a 65 corvair, great car! we used to take the hood off which was the trunk and with a few people sitting in the trunk go out cruisin[got stopped a couple times, but no ticket] I"ve got 4 of the OLD ones now, 67 fairlane, 69 charger, 70 firebird and a 71 mach 1, no show cars just nice looking street cruisers. hope this wasn't too long but i really liked your spot. drop a line if you can. bring back "fizzies', you know drop them in a glass of water, different flavors, dissolved like alka seltzers. Later.
Dale DuBois

Wow!!! I love your site! Made me feel like a kid again! I, too, was a little rebel; guess women's lib did it to us. I was one of the first females to enroll in ROTC; and we had one of the first female color guards (remember them, the guys that raised the flag at football games? do they still do that?) Thanks for letting me relive some of those times!!
Lori Krell

Great site, it brings back alot of memories for me like going parking and when boys were really gentlemen.

I FOUND YOU JUST AFTER I LEFT THE TOMMY JAMES SITE --WAY TOO COOL. I REMEMBER CRYSTAL BLUE PERSUASION WAS THE FIRST RECORD LP I EVER BOUGHT. I STILL LOVE HIM AND THEN FEELING A LITTLE NOSTALGIC I RAN INTO YOUR SITE AND WOW IT WAS LIKE STUCK IN 70S. IS THERE ANYTHING BETTER? I LOVED TO DRIVE MY CAR 67 COUGAR, BLACK, COOLEST CAR I EVER OWNED. MEMORIES OF SMOKING IN THE GIRLS BATHROOM AT SCHOOL. TURNING UP THE MONO STEREO TO HEAR MY FAVORITE PINK FLOYD, FLEETWOOD MAC AND BOB SEGAR. WALKING AROUND THE BLOCK IN THE EVENING AND NOT WORRYING ABOUT ANYTHING , WE WERE INVINCIBLE, THINKING PINK FLOWERS WITH A YELLOW CIRCLE INSIDE WAS COOL. THINKING ELVIS WAS COOL BUT KINDA OLD. ANYTHING TYE-DYE WAS GROOVY, CLOGS WERE WORN BY TEENS THEN NOT NURSES. MOVIES LIKE SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER. TOMMY, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, CAR WASH , AND BELL BOTTOM JEANS, GREAT TIME TO GROW UP --FREE. LOVE AND PEACE
JENENE

A Friend of mine was leaning in the passenger window of my 75' Camaro (wide tires and everything). He was wearing platform shoes. as I was driving away after saying goodbye, I felt a huge bump so I stopped when I turned around I could see my friend hopping around on one foot holding the other. I ran over his foot . I'm sure it hurt alot but I couldn't stop laughing. In his defense though, he was one of the few people who actually needed platform shoes, at 5' 3".

I love your page. I am now 40. Whoa, where did the years go??? Remember those leather things with sticks we used to pull our hair back with? Or those big barrettes,we'd twist our hair & put the barrette in then have a mop in the back & our "wings" would be sticking out! We thought we were cool! Even on a "good" hair day we wore those funky scarves! Crocodile Rock is still a good song! How about Dust in the Wind? I'm glad I found your page. Thank you for the memories!!
