Menu ideas!

"What's for dinner?" my kids ask. "I don't know, what do you feel like eating?" I look in the refrigerator and my eyes glaze over. I cannot see anything that looks like 'dinner' even though I spent $200 on groceries three to five days ago. After more than 21 years of marriage and three kids, I am burned out. Some days I have no cooking creativity at all and I wish someone to cook for me...... but that's not going to happen. I have to come up with something that the family will want to eat. Have you ever felt this way? If so, then I did this for you, too! I feel this way at least 4 days a week!

My own personal dilemma is that my kids like simple, american food (hamburgers, macaroni) and my husband prefers gourmet, continental food- (dream on). He also suffers from Casserole-aphobia. I have never had the pleasure of falling back on tuna noodle casserole. (Picky-picky!) Part of my marriage vows to Kim was "to love, honor, and not make casseroles." (He put in the casserole part, I took out the part about "obeying"!) When I make (sneak) something that is called a "casserole" in a cookbook, I tell him it's "baked". Gets him every time!

Summer is my favorite time, because my husband will BBQ almost every night. He will share some tips as he is the KING OF THE BARBECUE.

About 15 years ago, DESPERATELY needing ideas, I took an old calendar and filled in the days with as many menu ideas as I could think of. Then in 1992, when I got my first PC, I typed it all in. Doing this section of my site was easy, cut and paste all the way! Every now and then I'll add to it. Nothing is set in stone, it should be just used as jumping board to get the juices flowing, if you get my drift.

I've got dozens of cook books, but I needed "ideas", something with lots of variety. Most cook books have a theme - Chinese, Italian, Mexican. I wanted a book with all of the simplest kinds of recipes ideas in it.

Print the menu planners, take it to the grocery store with you so that you can plan a weeks worth of meals. I hope this helps you as it helps me!

My favorite thing to make for dinner is reservations!
