All week long the weatherman said we'd be in for a big winter storm. The kids were excited, as they were hoping their school break would be extended by mother nature. Yesterday, my husband and I spent the entire day running around preparing to be snowed in. I waited in line at the grocery for nearly an hour to check out, filling two shopping carts.

My husband went to Home Depot to get five 50 pound bags of salt for the driveway. Then he ventured to the liquor store. He needed to be prepared to be snowed with three kids, two of them being teenagers... We have enough Bud to hold a block party. He got a new propane tank so that we could use the BBQ to warm food if we loose power, as everything in our house is electric and we're on well water, also electric. We will melt snow by the fireplace to flush the toilets. When were get snowed in, often times we lose power and live like pioneers in the den by the fireplace. He made the kids (under duress) stack a ton of wood near the kitchen door. We rented videos, went to the ATM, filled our cars with gas, stocked up on batteries and flashlights and bottles water. Then we went to sleep, expectantly to wake up to a white world. The storm missed us, it blew up north. It hit in Pennsylvania, an hours drive north of us.

Even when you are expecting something you don't think you want, you're still disappointed when you don't get it!
